The Grown Up Blankie Pattern

I call this one the Grown Up Blankie because you'll want to cuddle this all day!  It's on the small size for a throw but if you want to make it longer just buy some extra yarn and crochet away.

Finished Size 44X55 inches

Materials 4 Skeins of Bernat Velvet I used the Sandy Cream colorway, Size K/6.5mm crochet hook or size needed to achieve gauge, tapestry needle

Gauge 10 rows x 12 stitches in pattern repeat equals 4 inches.

Chain 134 stitches

Row 1: Single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across for a total of 133 single crochets

Row 2: Chain 5, skip 3 single crochets, *V stitch (Double crochet, chain 2, double crochet) in the next stitch, skip next 2 single crochets, repeat from * to the last three stitches, chain 2, double crochet in last single crochet

Row 3: chain 1, turn, Single crochet in each Double crochet and each chain 2 space, 133 single crochets

Row 4-5: chain 1,turn, Single crochet in each single crochet across

​

Repeat rows 2-5 until blanket measures 52 inches long, ending with a row 3 row

​

Edge Row 1: Chain 3 and turn, Double crochet in first stitch and in each stitch across, in last stitch of row 2 double crochet, chain 2, 2 double crochet then turn.  Repeat across the blanket with 2 double crochets, chain 2, 2 double crochet in the last stitch.  Join to the chain 3 at the beginning of the row with a slip stitch.

Edge Row 2: Chain 3, skip 1st double crochet the double crochet through the back look only, then double crochet through the back loop across the row with 2 double crochet, chain 2, 2 double crochet in the corner chain 2 space.  Repeat around the blanket, then join with a slip stitch to the chain 3 at the row, fasten off.
